Mayor Michael Wildes Appoints Jones Lang LaSalle’s Cubie Dawson

Dawson to Serve Two-Year Term, Assist in Review of Environmental, Traffic Issues

NEW YORK, February 6, 2006 — Jones Lang LaSalle has announced that Cubie Dawson, senior vice president with the company’s New York office, has been appointed as an alternate member to the Planning Board of the city of Englewood, N.J.

 

“We needed to round out the expertise of our board members with someone who is engaged with the community and well-regarded professionally throughout the nation,” said Mayor Michael Wildes. “Cubie Dawson is very distinguished in his field and has been an Englewood resident for eight years. His background will be crucial to helping the city of Englewood deal effectively with matters of retail density and responsible development.”

 

Dawson brings considerable experience in public and private development of large, mixed-use and transportation related projects to the Englewood Planning Board. He is responsible for expanding Jones Lang LaSalle’s urban mixed-use transportation presence internationally. Dawson is a contributing team member responsible for the firm's presence in Chicago’s Union Station, Union Station in Kansas City and Springfield’s Union Station. He is a master planning advisor for the TransBay Terminal in San Francisco, Boston’s Artery Project, Fulton Street Transit Center, Governors Island in New York Harbor, and was recently been named as one of the “on call” advisors to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site.

 

Dawson has served as general manager of Grand Central Terminal, New York’s major transportation hub that services the needs of more than 500,000 commuters and visitors per day. He oversaw the development of public and private management, marketing and leasing plans for this historic facility. Previously, he was general manager of Union Station, Washington, D.C.’s main mixed-use transportation hub serviced by Amtrak, commuter trains, the Metro subway system and a wide range of motor coach lines. Dawson was also responsible for the Minority Business Enterprise Program at Union Station.

As an alternate member of the Englewood Planning Board, Dawson will attend all meetings, and will help review all proposed development that would affect the city’s Master Plan, with particular emphasis on the environmental impact of various projects and traffic-related issues. He will serve a two-year term that runs through Dec. 31, 2007.

 

The Englewood Planning Board is responsible for reviewing all applications for new developments and subdivisions, signing waivers, and for generating the city’s Master Plan. The nine-member board is comprised of the mayor or the mayor’s designate, a city official in addition to the mayor, a city council member, and six Englewood citizens. In addition, two Englewood citizens serve as alternates.
