The case for green cities
How we can help

What is CDP? What is CDP Cities?

CDP Cities provides an easy to use, global platform that allows city governments to publicly disclose their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data, analysis of climate change risks and opportunities, and adaptation plans. CDP Cities is conducted by the Carbon Disclosure Project, an independent not-for-profit organization holding the largest database of primary corporate climate change information in the world.

Thousands of organizations from across the world’s major economies measure and disclose their greenhouse gas emissions, water use and climate change strategies through CDP. We put this information at the heart of financial and policy decision-making.

Just like CDP’s work with corporations, the CDP Cities program allows city governments to demonstrate their commitment to transparency and will facilitate the sharing of emissions data and climate change information between local governments and between local governments and the private sector. CDP’s platform allows some comparison and benchmarking of city data. The data will provide cities and other stakeholders with valuable insights into the strategies deployed by cities in relation to climate change, with the purpose of driving action and investment toward a low carbon economy.
